Herschel Joseph Medlin, a resident of Pima and a United States Marine Corps veteran, passed into eternal life, Tuesday afternoon, December 14, 2021, at the Banner University Hospital in Phoenix, with his beloved wife, Jessica, at his side. Herschel was 48.
Herschel was a loyal and faithful protecter of the Safford and Gila Valley communities as a patrol officer for the Safford Police Department for over 18 years.
Herschel leaves to mourn: his wife, Jessica; and three children, Daniel (Reah), Wyatt and Juliette.
Funeral services for Herschel will be conducted Tuesday morning, December 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at the Pima Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Vernon Batty of the Pima Fifth Ward. Concluding services with military honors conferred by the United States Marine Corps Select Honor Guard and Police Honors rendered by the Safford Police Department Honor Guard will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, December 20, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at the Pima Stake Center Relief Society Room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
