Helen Hardwick, a longtime resident of Thatcher, entered into eternal life Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023, at The Center at Val Vista in Gilbert, from causes incident to age. Helen was 91.

Helen is survived by: her two daughters, Linda Welker (Rick Welker), of Queen Creek and Cathy Hinton (Terry Hinton), of Thatcher; eight grandchildren, Kristi Welker, Todd Welker (Amberly), Kami Cortez (Steve), Scott Welker (Amy), Travis Hinton (Jeannie), Candice Ellsworth (James), Brad Hinton (Fara) and Sean Hinton (Morgan), nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.  Helen was preceded in death by: her parents, Earl and Loie Carnes; two sisters, Doris Stahl and Myrna Bingham; and two brothers, Clyde and Earl (known as Sonny) Carnes.

Helen was born January 30, 1932 in Eagar,  Arizona, to Earl and Loie Carnes.  When she was 4 years old, the family moved to Cactus Flats.  They had no water, electricity or telephone, but they did have outdoor plumbing – an outhouse!  The family moved to Safford her sophomore year in high school.  She married Ernie Weaver when she was 18.  He taught her to upholster furniture and they owned Weaver’s Upholstery in Mesa, Arizona.  Helen was an excellent seamstress and worked hard her whole life.

Helen served as a temple worker in the Gila Valley Temple for 3 years and subbed for anyone that needed it.  She was in the temple almost every day that it was open.

Family was everything to Helen.   She enjoyed every minute with them.  She had a big heart and was loved by many!
