Concepcion Valdez

Concepcion Valdez, age 102 and a resident of Clifton, peacefully entered into eternal rest Monday morning, January 25, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Concepcion Hernandez Valdez (aka Concha) was born on January 1, 1919, to Jose and Josefa Hernandez in Guthrie, Arizona. She was married to Alfredo Valdez, Sr., on January 3, 1940. They made their home in Clifton, Arizona, for a few years. Alfredo joined the United States Army, and after they had their family of 4 children, they traveled overseas to Greece, Panama and to Bolivia. Concha was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and several of her siblings. Only Carmen Lujan and Mary Berry (Glyn) remain. She is survived by: all 4 of her children; Joe Valdez (Martha), Alfred Valdez (Sylvia), Virginia Valdez, and Jesusita (aka Jessie) Lofquist (James); 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Concha had many hobbies including gardening, cooking, rock collecting, sewing and dancing. She was well-known for her tortillas. Some traveled from Texas just to buy her home-made tortillas. She was loved by many and will be missed by even more. Her winning smile touched many hearts and her polite and gentle ways will always be remembered. Concepcion (Concha) lived to the age of 102. Her life ended on January 25, 2021 of natural causes. She joined her husband, Alfredo Valdez at Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery on February 4, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial for Concha will be celebrated Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Rev. Nathaniel Mma. Committal will follow on Thursday morning, February 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery. A Rosary and prayers will be offered Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church led by David and Vangie Esquivel. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home.
