Robert Allen Reed, 67, of Central, AZ, entered into eternal rest on September 3, 2017, at his residence with family and friends by his side. Robert was born in Morenci, AZ, on July 14, 1950, to Alla Pearl and Robert Reed. He graduated from Morenci High School and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Brigham Young University. Robert spent his career working in the copper mining industry with Phelps Dodge Mining and Freeport-McMoRan. He held many positions within the company including Smelter Engineer, Operations General Manager, MCE Manager and Central Maintenance Manager for the Americas. During that time, he lived and worked in Morenci, Playas, NM, Silver City, NM and Safford, AZ. Robert believed in serving his community. He served in several organizations, including Greenlee County Search and Rescue, Animas School Board, Columbus Electric Co-op, Graham County Electric Co-op and Transco Electric Cooperative. Robert was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and had served in several leadership positions during his life. Robert loved hunting, fishing and generally being outdoors. In retirement, he loved spending time at the cabin in Alpine and at Big Lake. He traveled professionally and for pleasure to various locations around the world including Chile, Peru, Japan, Poland, Finland, Germany, Russia, Mexico and Canada. Robert was a big man with a big heart. He was loved and respected by many. He loved his friends and family beyond measure and will be dearly missed. Robert is survived by: his wife, Lynne; children, Alyson (Mark) Nielson, Christopher Reed, Derek (Lisa) Reed, Cami (Shane) Davis, Sean (Samantha) Smith and Kristen (Grant) Fullerton; twelve grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Howard) Gray; and brother, Richard (Jana) Reed; stepmother, Doris Reed; step-siblings, Joe (Sheryl) Goodman, Don (Donna) Goodman, Lynda (Marion) Call and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Robert will be conducted Saturday morning, September 9, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at the Temple View Central L.D.S. Chapel by Bishop Brandon Welker of the Central Second Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 8, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Saturday morning, September 9, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., in the Temple View Central L.D.S. Chapel Relief Society Room. Robert's family has established a tribute fund at Mayo Clinic to support the Kidney Transplant Program.
