He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1963. Mike went to work for the City of Safford in 1977 and later became the director of water, gas and sewer, serving in that capacity for over 20 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a bishop, bishop’s counselor, high councilor, a temple worker in the Mesa Arizona Temple and in several other capacities. I worked with Mike at the City of Safford for many years....he could be stern but it was usually for good reason or cause and definitely hard working. When we first moved to Artesia area, he always shared his delicious raspberries and other fruits/vegetables from his garden with us, which was plentiful! Our deepest sympathy to the Estrada and Squire family. Christine & Terry Fisher

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad Deri and Michaele and family. I worked with him a short while at the City of Safford. I remember him giving me your e-mail address Deri and how he would light up when I talked about his kids. My thoughts and prayers are with you throughout this sad time. He was a good man and a hard worker. Hugs and Sincere Sympathy to all of you. Karen (Rogers) Coppola
