Denise Hawkins

Denise Hawkins, a lifelong resident of the Gila Valley, entered into eternal life Tuesday morning, September 29, 2020, after her lifelong battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Denise was 39. Denise was born 4 August 1981 at Phoenix, Arizona. She arrived 5 minutes earlier than her twin brother David. She was the oldest and she never let him forget it. They were both adopted into the Family of Dan C and V Kay Hancock Hawkins. They were the last babies to join the family. Denise was raised in Pima, Arizona where she attended Pima Schools. She graduated from Pima High School and went on to Eastern Arizona College where she studied Computer Science. Denise was a beloved daughter, sister, and Aunt. She was always ready with a smile and willing to take anyone along with her on her adventures. She refused to let her disability slow her down. She loved to be in the Outdoors, fishing, swimming, spending time with family and friends. Denise is survived by: her siblings, Jeannie Wood, Lori Lofgreen, Teresa Story (Scott), Mark Hawkins (Betsy), Tina Kinney (Craig), Lisa Gilbert Webb, Laura Hawkins and twin brother David Hawkins. Also surviving are: her half siblings, Paul Turner, Kyle Turner, Travis Turner and their father Roy Turner; and her lifelong, best friend forever, Amber Castro. Denise was predeceased by: her beloved parents, Dan and Kay Hawkins; her birth mother, Joyce Slick Turner; a brother Daniel Reay Hawkins; and a sister, Sandra Kay Hawkins. Graveside funeral services for Denise will be conducted Friday, October 2, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., in the Eden Cemetery.

I was so sad to hear about Denise. What a beautiful lady! I had the privilege of meeting her when she was in high school. Later we got reacquainted at the Institute when she attended EA. I loved that girl! She was so funny. She always made me laugh especially with stories of David. She was a great example to many. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Hawkins Family my heartfelt condolences for this terrible loss of your sister. Denise was always so full of laughter and smiles and loved being with her dad, brothers and sisters. Id see them all often in Walmart and their teasing of each other always made my heart happy.
